What is The Main Cause of Acne Breakout

Acne is tenacious, an incendiary skin condition that causes pimples and spots on the face, back, neck, chest. It commonly occurs during puberty, when the sebaceous gland activates also it’s not necessary that it occurs only at a young age but it can occur at any age. Most of the people experience acne at the age of 12 to 30 years. 

What are The Causes of Acne Breakout

There are several causes of acne breakout as it is so common nowadays that it affects 3 in every 4 people because when tiny holes in the skin, hair follicles become blocked. There are numerous reasons for having acne.

  • Hormonal factor : The first and main reason for having acne is the rise in androgen level in women it gets converted into estrogen. Rising of this level leads to an increase in oil glands under the skin to grow.
  • Stress: Stress is a perception of impassioned or natural tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, irritated, or angry. 

Does Stress Really Cause Acne

The relationship between acne and diet is unclear but it is found that individuals who consume a good supply of vitamins A and E have a lower risk of acne. Having a properly balanced diet and a good amount of water which is the necessity of the body leads to a healthy body.

Types of Acne

  1. Acne Vulgaris: This is the medical name of acne and the most common acne breakouts are the face, chest, back, and shoulders.
  2. Whiteheads: These remain beneath the skin and are minute.
  3. Blackheads: Evidently visible, they are black and develop on the surface of the skin.
  4. Pustules: They are red at the base and have pus at the top; it’s clearly visible.
  5. Papules: Small, usually pink bumps and visible.
  6. Nodules: They are large, solid, painful pimples that are embedded deep in the skin.
  7. Cysts: Clearly visible and painful filled with pus and also left scars.
  8. Acne Mechanica: It is also known as sports induced acne because it’s commonly found in athletes by heat, friction, pressure against the skin.
  9. Acne Conglobata: They are inflated Nodules connected to another Nodule present under the skin and it is a very severe problem.
  10. Severe Nodulocystic Acne: In this people have multiple Cysts and Nodules and acne turns deep red or purple.
  11. Moderate Acne: Acne is considered to be moderate when there are about 30 to 100 whiteheads or blackheads, 20 to 50 inflated bumps, or 50 to 125 lesions.
  12. Mild Acne: Acne is considered to be mild when there are less than 20 whiteheads or blackheads, fewer than 15 inflated bumps, or 30 lesions.
  13. Comedones: It is a basic acne lesion caused due to hair follicles that have been clogged with oil and dead skin. 

Difference Between Acne and Pimple

Acne is an infirmity affecting the skin’s hair follicles and oil glands. Under your skin, your pores are connected to glands that make an oily substance known as sebum whereas Pimple is one of its symptoms.

How to Deal With Acne

  • Skin Care Routine: Skincare is like dieting you have to invest time and effort into your skin. There is a slight difference between day and night skincare. It’s just the sunscreen that has to be applied in the morning before going out. Cleansing, moisturizing is common in a skincare routine. At night our skin breathes as there is no makeup and at this time it’s good to nourish your skin so that it can restore and heal. Use products that contain olive, avocado, vitamin A and E.

  • Cleaning and Toning:- It’s essential to wash your face at least twice a day with a good face wash which is suitable for your skin type. People having acne should use face wash which contains tea tree oil as it helps to prevent acne, also never sleep before removing your makeup. It’s a huge mistake that many adults make. After face wash always use toner it helps to tighten your pores and also makes dull skin look brighter. Toner is effective at maintaining the pH level, which assists your skin to be less prone, oily, and make it appear smoother.

Say No To

  • Don’t scrub the skin so harshly or burst the pimple as this may increase the infection further down, causing more blocking, swelling, and redness.
  • Don’t touch your T-Zone part of the face. Always wash your hand before applying makeup or moisturizer. 
  • Always keep your hair clean as it collects sebum and skin residue. Avoid using greasy hair products such as cocoa butter.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure as it can also produce more sebum. Always apply sunscreen with SPF 15 or 30 before going out in any weather.
  • If acne breakout is on the back or shoulder try not to wear tight-fitting clothes wear loose and comfortable clothes to let the skin breathe.
  • While wearing makeup before that always check that it will suit your skin type if you have oily skin try not to buy oil-based products.

  1. Acne is caused by dirt:- Well it’s not true acne can also be formed by washing too frequently or scrubbing too vigorously which will irritate the skin and make acne worse.
  2. Eating dark chocolates causes acne:- Dark chocolates contain antioxidants called flavonoids which is good for the skin.
  3. Only teenagers get acne:- Although acne most frequently appears in adolescents, acne can be caused to anyone at any age because acne is caused by overactive oil glands in the skin, dead skin cells, and bacteria which leads to inflammation in pores. Acne is not something that is physically debilitating, it’s more so emotionally debilitating. Don’t measure your worth by the quality of your skin. Beauty is not having glowing and clear skin but beauty is being comfortable in your own skin.
